Ghanaian actress and social media star, Akuapem Poloo, has publicly apologized to the youth, especially her fans, for living a lie on social media.
The actress, whose real name is Rosemond Alade Brown, has been known for showing off luxury cars as birthday gifts every year. However, this year, she did not post any cars as part of her birthday celebration.
She explained that she was young and naive when she started pretending to have a lavish lifestyle on social media. She said she now realizes that such behavior could negatively influence the youth, especially those who admire her.
She asked for forgiveness from all young people and fans who may have been deceived by her fake lifestyle. She also advised them to be content with what they have and not to fall for the lies of some social media users.
She made these statements during an interview on Prime Morning with host, Roselyn Felli on Friday.
She also revealed that many social media users, especially celebrities, lie about receiving expensive cars as birthday gifts.
“Some people even buy cars for themselves and say someone gave it to them. It’s crazy, and now the youth are being misled. I regret it, and if I have ever misled any youth, they should just forgive me,” she said.
The actress recently posted a video of herself dancing on her page, exposing some parts of her body in celebration of her birthday.
This attracted criticism on social media because she is now a Muslim, and the religion does not approve of such actions.
When asked why she did that, she said, “They don’t expect me to cover my skin when I’m talking about skin care products, so how do people see that the skin care product is working on my skin. I’m a brand ambassador for a skin care product, so I had to show my skin.”
She also said that she plans to have another child, but only after marriage, because she does not want to repeat her previous mistake.
