Amerado has won the Best Rapper award at the 24th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held on May 6th, 2023.
The rapper’s ‘Obiaa boa’ track beat out stiff competition from Medikal, Strongman, Lyrical Joe and Teephlow. Amerado was ecstatic upon receiving his dream plaque from the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
“I have won this for all Kumasi rappers,” said an excited Amerado as he mentioned Strongman. He also thanked TV presenter Deloris Frimpong Maso aka Delay for supporting his craft.
Last year’s winner of the category, Lyrical Joe, was entangled in a ‘rap beef’ with Amerado after winning the award. This year, Amerado grabbed the award from Lyrical Joe with his ‘Obiaa boa’ track.
The Best Rap Performance category is one of the most controversial categories in the awards show. However, Amerado’s win was well-deserved as his ‘Obiaa boa’ track was a hit with fans and judges alike
