Barcelona are close to winning their first La Liga title in four years. They have a 13-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid with only five games remaining. They need just two more points to secure the trophy.
They could achieve that on Monday, when they face local rivals Espanyol at the RCDE Stadium. It would be a perfect way for Barcelona to celebrate their league triumph.
As per Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona want to make it even more special by inviting Gerard Pique to join them in the celebrations.
Pique was part of Barça’s league campaign this season, playing six games in the first half. He was a leader in defence and helped young players like Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen.
However, Pique decided to retire from football at the end of last year. He faced a lot of criticism for his form and role in the team.
Pique also waived his outstanding payments from Barcelona, helping them reduce their wage bill.
Barça will further lower their expenses after Sergio Busquets announced his departure at the end of the season. Jordi Alba could also leave as part of the club’s plan to cut €200 million from their salary mass.
But all three of them will be there at the RCDE Stadium when Barcelona lift the La Liga title this weekend.
