Barça Celebrates 27th League Title with Xavi as Coach The Barça players and coach Xavi Hernández shared their joy after securing the league title at the home of their city rivals Espanyol.
With four games left in the season, Barça clinched the 2022/23 league title, their 27th in the Club’s history and the first one under Xavi’s management.
The coach was overjoyed with his team’s performance: “I feel that we have done a great job. We started in July and we have had an amazing league campaign. It’s very important for the stability of the project and it confirms that we are on the right track.”
Xavi praised his team for being “brilliant” in the derby against Espanyol. He added: “This is not Xavi’s league, this is Barça’s league title, a Barça that is growing and evolving. I am thrilled for the players, for the staff and for the board…I feel very proud to coach these players.” What the players said:
Sergio Busquets “This should be the foundation for a winning team; we have gone through three seasons without winning much.
“I wanted to leave with trophies. We won the Super Cup but winning a major title, like the league, it was our goal. I have had a lot of fun in the last few days.”
Jordi Alba “We are very happy for those who have been in the Club for a long time and those who have not won the league before.”
Alejandro Balde “It’s been a special day: my first goal with the first team and my first league title.”
Pedri “Winning the league is a reward for consistency and I am very happy as it’s an important title for the Club.”
Ronald Araujo “It’s important to learn how to win. It’s been a while but this season we have won two trophies; that shows the team we have and I hope there are more to come.”
Raphinha “I am very happy. I, and the team, have worked very hard and now we have the reward. It’s the first of many and that makes it special.”
