A British teenager died after allegedly falling from the 4th floor of his school dormitory at St. Peter’s Mission school in Ogbojo, Adentan Municipality. The family of the 14-year-old boy is demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances of his death.
The school authorities claimed that the incident happened around midnight on Monday, May 15, when the boy was disturbing other students by knocking on their doors on the fourth floor and then jumped out of a window.
The boy was taken to the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) where he was declared dead. The family said that they were not informed about the incident until the next day and that the school authorities lied about the boy’s relative being a sick grandmother.
A family member told Citi News that “We got a call from the school on Tuesday afternoon that we should come to the Legon Hospital because the boy was sick. His stepfather and grandmother went there but they found out that he was already dead. The hospital staff said that they reported the case to the police because there was no police escort when they brought him. The grandmother saw his body and noticed that his leg was swollen and he had a big cut under his armpit. We want the police to find out what really happened to him”.
Citi News learned that the family has filed a complaint with the British High Commission in Ghana and the police headquarters.
