Coach Napari Suheru arrested for assaulting referee during Division 1B match in Tamale

A Division 1B football match near Tamale’s Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium turned violent on June 17, 2023, when a coach attacked a referee.

The coach, Napari Suheru, was arrested by the Police for his assault on the referee, who was rushed to the hospital with injuries.

The Police are investigating the incident and have met with the leaders of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the National Sports Authority.

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, advised them to notify the Police ahead of time about all lower league matches, as they do for the premier league.

This will help the Police to ensure safety and order during these matches.
