Espanyol fans storm the pitch and chase Barca players after losing La Liga. The celebrations were cut short by the angry home crowd.
After securing the league title with a 4-2 victory over Espanyol on Sunday, Barcelona players had to flee the pitch as the home fans invaded the field and went after them.
Xavi’s team clinched the 2022-23 championship thanks to goals from Alejandro Balde, Jules Kounde and Robert Lewandowski, who scored twice.
The players were enjoying their moment of glory when Espanyol fans broke through the security and ran towards them.
The Barca stars quickly escaped to the locker room, while the home crowd vented their frustration at the outcome and the club’s plight.
The fans hurled objects and shouted their displeasure at the club’s board. Espanyol are in deep trouble at the bottom of the table and face a fight to stay up, while Barca are champions.
There are only four games left in the season, and Espanyol have to play Rayo, Atletico, Valencia and Almeria in their final stretch.
