Finance Minister reveals why men have extra affairs

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has given his insight on the social phenomenon that often drives men to have additional relationships besides their wives.

In a video posted on Joy News’ official Twitter handle on June 08, 2023, the finance minister, who is also a co-founder of Databank Group, a financial services company in Ghana, spoke about how the systems in Ghana sometimes push men to have side partners apart from their married spouses.

“It’s a very difficult thing. Somehow, the issue in Ghana for marriages is that the system compels you to have a girlfriend. So, what do you do? When the whole society is moving in that direction?” he questioned.

However, Ken Ofori-Atta suggested that one possible solution to this perceived social challenge is to regard one’s spouse as a boyfriend or girlfriend.

“Now if you are able to define your wife as your girlfriend, you’ve solved the problem.

“It looks like just a statement, but I think it’s the heart of fidelity and a good society. So, let’s make our spouses our boyfriends and girlfriends and we will have solved Ghana’s problem,” he concluded to the delight of the audience.
