Firmino saves Liverpool on farewell day fans react 2

Liverpool salvaged a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa thanks to Roberto Firmino’s late equalizer, a fitting way to mark his final appearance at Anfield after eight years of service.

The Reds had a lot to play for and a lot to say goodbye to, but they started poorly and allowed Villa to take the lead early on.

Unfortunately, the referee also had a big role in the game, with John Brooks delivering one of the worst performances by a Premier League official this season.

Cody Gakpo saw his goal ruled out for a dubious offside call, while Aston Villa wasted as much time as they could with various antics.

But Firmino was the hero for Liverpool, scoring in front of the Kop on his farewell day.

The top four is still technically possible for Liverpool, but they need Man United to lose both of their remaining games – here’s how fans reacted to the outcome.
