Former President Mahama consoles late Kumawu MPs family

The family of Philip Atta Basoah, the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kumawu, received a visit from the former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama on Friday.

He was accompanied by the NDC parliamentary candidate for Kumawu, Fifi Kwetey, the Ashanti Regional Chairman Andrew Nana Kwasi and other party executives.

Philip Atta Basoah died on March 27, 2023 and his funeral service will be held on Saturday. A by-election will be conducted on Tuesday to elect a new MP for the Kumawu constituency.

The former President and his entourage expressed their condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late MP.

The family of Philip Atta Basoah appreciated the kind gesture of President Mahama and his team and thanked them for sharing in their grief.

The NDC has fielded Kwasi Amankwah as its candidate for the Kumawu by-election. He will face off with the NPP candidate, whose name is yet to be announced.
