Ghana’s PPI increases to 43.9% in April

Ghanas plan to curb spending and arrears

The latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) shows that the Producer Price Inflation (PPI) for the country rose to 43.9% in April 2023.

This means that the cost of producing goods and services in Ghana increased by 2.1 percentage points between April 2022 and April 2023, compared to the previous month.

The PPI for March 2023 was 41.8 per cent. The monthly change in the PPI between March 2023 and April 2023 was 2.8%. The GSS report reveals that the PPI for the industry-less construction sector went up to 43.9 per cent in April 2023 from 41.1 per cent in March 2023.

The PPI for the construction sector also went up to 20.9% in April 2023 from 18.5% in March 2023. The PPI for the services sector increased slightly from 18.2% in March 2023 to 18.4% in April 2023.
