GLMIS: Ghana’s digital platform for labour market information

GLMIS Ghanas digital platform for labour market information

The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) has revealed that the Ghana Labour Market Information System (GLMIS) will be ready by September 2023.

The GLMIS is a digital platform that will provide all kinds of data and services related to the labour market in Ghana. It will help job seekers from both the formal and informal sectors of the economy to find suitable employers.

It will also offer updated information on the employment situation in Ghana, such as the latest trends, the skills that are in high demand, and the training opportunities that are available.

The GLMIS is funded by the World Bank with US$30 million and uses advanced technology to create a one-stop shop for labour market information.

The GLMIS will also have features that will make it accessible and user-friendly for persons with disabilities, such as text-to-speech, adjustable font sizes and keyboard navigations.

The GLMIS is in line with the standards of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), which promotes good practice in developing and using labour market information for human resources development and programme planning.
