Manchester City are one step away from completing the treble after they beat Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley thanks to two goals from Ilkay Gundogan.
The City skipper, who has been in superb form this season, scored the fastest goal ever in an FA Cup final when he volleyed home after just 12 seconds, breaking the record set by Louis Saha for Everton in 2009.
United equalised from the spot in the first half after VAR ruled that Jack Grealish had handled the ball in the box. Bruno Fernandes slotted the penalty past Stefan Ortega with ease.
But Gundogan had the final say when he met Kevin de Bruyne’s free-kick with another volley that flew past David de Gea in the 51st minute, sealing City’s seventh FA Cup trophy.
City, who have already secured the Premier League title, will now face Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul next Saturday, hoping to emulate United’s historic treble in 1999.
