Inter are outraged after Lega Serie A scheduled their league match against Atalanta only 72 hours after their Coppa Italia Final clash with Fiorentina.
The Nerazzurri have a hectic end to the season with three crucial Serie A matches in the fight for the top four, the Coppa Italia Final against Fiorentina and the Champions League Final against Manchester City.
Lega Serie A announced kick-off times and dates for Week 37 on Friday and Inter learned that they’ll have to play Atalanta at San Siro just three days after the Coppa Italia Final in Rome.
“It is unacceptable to have brought forward a match that could have been played even on Monday,” said director Beppe Marotta, as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“By doing so, the safety of players is at risk. They are forced to play three games in a week, including a Coppa Italia Final that could also go to extra time.”
The Coppa Italia Final will also be played 72 hours after an away game at Napoli on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
The Nerazzurri are third in the Serie A table, three points behind Juventus and five points ahead of their city rivals Milan who are currently out of the top four.
