Chelsea ready to sell Kovacic as Man Utd and Man City eye summer move. The 29-year-old midfielder has only one year left on his contract and has not agreed to extend it beyond 2024.
Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly wants to avoid losing players for free and reduce the squad size after spending £600million in the last two windows.
The Blues have plenty of midfielders to choose from – N’Golo Kante, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount and Carney Chukwuemeka – and can afford to let Kovacic go.

The Guardian reports that Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United are all keen on the ex-Real Madrid star.
Bayern could be the favourite destination for Kovacic as he would reunite with Thomas Tuchel – his former boss at Chelsea who led them to the Champions League glory in 2021.
But Man Utd are also in the hunt for top-class midfielders to partner Christian Eriksen and Casemiro.
And Man City could join the race if they lose Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer this summer.
