Martin Kpebu, a vocal opponent of the Akufo-Addo administration, has expressed his joy that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will soon leave office after the 2024 general elections.
He said that the Akufo-Addo administration has wasted eight years of Ghana’s development.
He made these remarks while discussing the upcoming by-election in Assin North on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, June 3. Kpebu is a private legal practitioner who has accused President Akufo-Addo of failure.
The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has set Tuesday, June 27 as the date for the by-election.
The seat became vacant after the Clerk of Parliament, Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah, declared it so following a letter from the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, informing the Speaker about the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday, May 17.
“The filing fee for the election is Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00) per candidate,” said the Chairperson, Jean Mensa, in a press release.
“All completed nomination forms are expected to be delivered in quadruplicate.”
