Kumawu gets new MP as Ernest Yaw Anim is sworn in

Ernest Yaw Anim has been sworn in as the new Member of Parliament for Kumawu constituency by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

He was certified by the Electoral Commission as the winner of the Kumawu by-election that took place on May 23, 2023. He garnered 15,264 votes to beat his closest rival, Kwasi Amankwaa of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who had 3,723 votes. Two independent candidates, both named Kwaku Duah, also contested in the by-election.

The by-election was necessitated by the demise of the former MP for Kumawu, Philip Basoah, who passed away in March 2023.
