Lionel Messi’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is in doubt after he was suspended for two weeks following an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia
Lionel Messi has been suspended by Paris Saint-Germain for two weeks after making an unsanctioned trip to Saudi Arabia. The PSG stars were informed by manager Christophe Galtier last week that all players would be given two days off (Monday and Tuesday) if they beat Lorient on Sunday.
However, the Ligue 1 side were comfortably beaten. Goals from Enzo Le Fee, Darline Yongwa and Bamba Dieng ensured that PSG were handed their sixth defeat of the season and thus the planned days off were scrapped.
However, Messi had previously been granted permission to travel to Saudi Arabia by the higher powers at the club to ‘honour’ his sponsorship agreement – though was given the green light if his side were to have been victorious.
It has now been reported that Messi travelled to the Middle East regardless, missing training on Monday as a result.
