The former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, is in Assin North today Saturday, June 17 to back James Gyakye Quayson, the ousted Member of Parliament (MP), in his bid to reclaim his seat in the upcoming by-election.
Mr Mahama said he was supporting Gyakye Quayson because he believed in his vision and commitment to serve the people of Assin North.
He accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using the judiciary to deprive the people of Assin North of their chosen representative in a hung Parliament.
He described the Supreme Court’s ruling that annulled Gyakye Quayson’s election as unconstitutional due to his dual citizenship as one of the most blatant cases of judicial manipulation ever witnessed in Ghana’s democracy.
He expressed confidence and trust in the people of Assin North to vote for Gyakye Quayson again as their MP and correct the injustice done to him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He thanked the people of Assin North for their continuous love and support for Gyakye Quayson and the NDC, despite the last-minute vote-buying tactics employed by the NPP.
