Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. faced John Gotti III, grandson of the notorious mob boss John Gotti, in a special exhibition match on Sunday at the FLA Live Arena in Florida.
The match was supposed to last eight rounds, but it was stopped by referee Kenny Bayliss in the sixth round, much to the displeasure of Gotti III.
The 30-year-old continued to attack Mayweather, 46, after the bell rang, sparking a melee in the ring as both fighters’ entourages rushed in.
More fights broke out in the crowd and backstage, forcing the police to evacuate the venue and warn those who refused to leave with charges.
Mayweather later posted a video on social media, saying: “That’s why they pay the big bucks, because I put on a show.”
The former multiple-weight world champion retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an unbeaten record of 50-0 and has participated in several exhibition matches since then.
