Lionel Messi could be tempted by a staggering €500 million (£435m/$541m) offer from Saudi Arabia as he nears the end of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The Argentine legend has not committed to a new deal with the French giants and could become a free agent in the summer. The 35-year-old, who has won seven Ballon d’Or awards, has been linked with a sentimental return to Barcelona, where he spent 21 years and became the club’s all-time top scorer.
However, he faces serious competition from Al-Hilal, who are reportedly eager to pair him with his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in their ambitious project.
According to Cadena Ser, Messi has received an unprecedented proposal from the Riyadh-based club that would make him the highest-paid player in history. He would pocket half-a-billion euros for just one season in Saudi Arabia.
However, Mediapro founder Jaume Roures claims that Messi still favours a comeback to Camp Nou and will make up his mind before May ends.
