Napoli have set a £140million price tag for their star striker Victor Osimhen, who is wanted by Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils have been tracking the Nigerian international for a long time and sent scouts to watch him in action against Milan in the Champions League last month.
Osimhen, 24, is one of the best strikers in the world and has scored 47 goals in 81 games for Napoli since joining them from Lille in 2020. He was instrumental in Napoli’s historic Serie A title triumph last season and won the Serie A Best Young Player award. He also holds the record for the most goals scored by an African in a single Serie A season and is the ninth all-time highest goalscorer of the Nigeria national team.
United are keen to add Osimhen to their attacking options and have already agreed a deal to sign his Napoli teammate Kim Min-jae. The South Korean defender, 26, impressed in his debut season in Italy after moving from Beijing Guoan last year, but has a £43m release clause in his contract that United have triggered.
Napoli are reluctant to lose Osimhen and Kim, who formed a strong partnership on and off the pitch, but are aware of their financial situation amid the coronavirus pandemic. They have told United that they will not sell Osimhen for less than £140m, which would make him the second most expensive player in history after Neymar.
