Today, Friday, June 16, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will file his nomination forms at the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra. He will be accompanied by some prominent members of the party.
The forms were picked for him by former National Vice Chairman Fred Oware and former National Organiser Sammy Awuku. Some supporters had also brought GH¢50,000 cash to get the forms for him.
Dr Bawumia is one of the leading candidates in the upcoming primaries.
His main rival will be former Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who was the first to submit his forms.
Since nominations opened on Friday, May 26, 10 aspirants including outspoken politician Ken Ohene Agyapong have picked forms.
Nominations will end on Saturday, June 24 before vetting starts on Monday, July 3.
If more than five candidates qualify for the primaries, the party will hold a National Congress by the Special Electoral College on Saturday, August 26.
The congress to elect the 2024 flagbearer will be held on Saturday, November 4.
