Okyeame Kwame to young people: Ignore advice; it will limit you. Young people should not pay attention to advise because it will make their lives restricted, according to Ghanaian rapper Okyeame Kwame.
The acclaimed artist said in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy Prime that most people who give advice do so out of fear for others’ welfare.
“We are where we are today because we listened to advise too much. I plead with you, young people. Don’t listen to advice. You already know what I am saying if you reflect on your thoughts and focus on them.
Okyeame Kwame explained that human beings have two voices in their heads (the voice of the body and the voice of God or the spirit) and that they should always follow the voice of God.
“The voice of the body makes you want to overindulge, be lazy, cheat your boss, cut corners, and do things quickly and easily. The voice of God in you makes you want to love, meet the right people, sacrifice, discipline your body, and act like Christ, or Mohammed or that good guy you admire. Listen to that voice of God,” he said.
He added: “Your parents may tell you to be a doctor instead of a rapper because they are scared that you will fail as a rapper. But look at me, I think I have achieved something. Sarkodie, M.anifest, they are all rappers. They have wives, they live their lives and they inspire others in the society.”
Okyeame Kwame reiterated his position and urged young people to listen to the positive messages from their inner spirit. He clarified that while the voice of God should guide them, it shouldn’t control every aspect of their lives.
