Napoli Star Wants to Join Premier League Club Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who helped Napoli win their first Serie A title in three decades, has revealed his ambition to play in the Premier League, giving Manchester United an edge over Paris Saint-Germain in the race for his signature.
The 24-year-old, who scored in Napoli’s Champions League clash with Milan last month, visited Paris recently, but not for transfer talks.
Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is keen to sign a top-class striker to lead his attack for the coming seasons. Osimhen is the main target of United’s transfer experts, who have been impressed by his performances in Italy.
United’s Scouts Impressed by Osimhen’s Skills United sent scouts to watch Osimhen in action against Milan, where he showed his quality despite Napoli’s disappointing exit from Europe. He was also instrumental in Napoli’s domestic success, scoring 18 goals in 32 league games.
According to Il Mattino, a local newspaper in Naples, United are ahead of other clubs in the chase for Osimhen this summer. Their interest has increased as they face competition from Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain, who are also monitoring the situation.
Napoli sources suggest that Osimhen is unsettled by the attention from the Premier League club and may be open to a move if they receive a tempting offer.
PSG’s Interest & Osimhen’s Premier League Dream RMC Sport reported that PSG are serious about signing Osimhen, and his trip to Paris added fuel to the rumors. However, Osimhen has not ruled out a move to the French champions, but his preference is to play in England.
Osimhen admitted his “dream” of playing in the Premier League in March, when rumors of a move to Old Trafford started to circulate. United scouts have been following his progress since then.
“I think it’s an amazing feeling for me to play in one of the top five leagues in the world,” Osimhen said. He praised the Premier League, as well as Serie A where he currently plays. His goal is clear: “I’m working hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League someday.”
United’s Alternatives Manchester United also have Tottenham’s Harry Kane on their radar, a long-term target. However, he may renew his contract with his current club out of loyalty. Other strikers that the club likes include Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, both former Ajax players under Ten Hag, as well as Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, a cheaper option under consideration.
