Portland’s KBFF Live 95.5 FM, a top 40 radio station owned by Alpha Media, has launched a groundbreaking feature: an artificial intelligence (AI) DJ that mimics their host, Ashley Elzinga.
The station has collaborated with Futuri Media to use their RadioGPT software, which allows them to create a synthetic voice for their host that can broadcast on air. Phil Becker, EVP of Content at Alpha Media, said that the AI DJ will make the station more flexible and innovative than ever.
RadioGPT enables them to present their content creators in new and frequent ways, delivering timely and rich information to their listeners and clients. The station shared a tweet where Elzinga introduces the new AI DJ to her audience.
The AI voice, playing back her comments, sounds like a simple recording. The AI Ashley has a casual and friendly tone, very similar to the original host.
