President launches US12 million aquaculture centre

On Thursday, June 7, 2023, Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated a modern National Aquaculture Centre and Commercial Farms at Amrahia, in the Greater Accra region.

The project, which cost US$12 million, is part of the government’s efforts to boost the fisheries and aquaculture sector, following the opening of the €86 million Elmina Fishing Harbour by the President last week.

President Akufo-Addo said that the government recognized the potential of the aquaculture sub-sector to address the gap between fish supply and demand in the country.
