Riqui Puig mocks LAFC fans with Messi celebration after wonder goal

The former Barcelona midfielder scored a brilliant solo goal to help his team beat their local rivals 2-0 in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.

He then took off his shirt and displayed it to the hostile crowd at Banc of California Stadium, mimicking Messi’s iconic gesture at Real Madrid.

As Puig was speaking to reporters after the game, Chiellini walked past him and muttered “payaso”, which means clown in Spanish.

The clash between LA Galaxy and LAFC is one of the most intense rivalries in MLS, but it has been dominated by LAFC in recent times. The reigning MLS Cup champions are leading the Western Conference again this season, while LA Galaxy are struggling at the bottom with only two wins in 13 league games.
