Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has lost his lawyer Cynthia Quarcoo, also known as “Mama C”, who passed away on Wednesday, June 21.
The award-winning artist has been silent since Sunday night [June 18], when actress Yvonne Nelson launched her book, “I am not Yvonne Nelson”, in which she claimed that she had an abortion with Sarkodie in 2010.
Yvonne Nelson said that she was in a relationship with Sarkodie, who was then an aspiring musician living with his mother. She said that Sarkodie was not ready to be a father and pressured her to terminate the pregnancy.
Sarkodie has not responded to the allegation publicly, but he hinted that he had contacted his lawyer earlier this week for legal advice.
On Thursday, he posted a tribute to his lawyer on social media, saying that he had sent her a WhatsApp message asking “Mama C Na mentee wonka oo” but did not get a reply until he heard that she had died.
He described his lawyer as a supportive and caring person who would always text him first to check on him.
Cynthia Quarcoo was the founder of Africa One Media and a prominent figure in the entertainment industry. Her death has caused a stir on social media.
This is the tribute that Sarkodie shared on Facebook on June 22
“I knew you were meant to be a part of this trip the moment we first met. It almost felt like you were stalking me because you knew everything about me. After being shifted, I thought, “Now that’s my lawyer!” Since our first encounter, we have never been apart. With so many memories, moving past this will be quite difficult. one of the few persons with whom I am frank. Mama Cee! You ought to have at least told me you weren’t feeling well, but knowing you, I know you don’t want us to feel sorry for you.
“You left in the manner that you want, in true Mama C fashion. We will all find this to be incredibly difficult, but I suppose that comes with showing love. I sent a WhatsApp message asking “Mama C Na mentee wonka oo” but after several hours of seeing two ticks, I felt something was wrong and they broke the news to me. It was unusual that I hadn’t heard from you in these few days because knowing my Mama Cee she would be the first person to text me worried and tease me.
“We shall attempt to be strong since it is what you would want for all of us, Mama C.
“Let’s be strong. Condolences to the family and friends, especially the kids (sic)”, Sarkodie wrote.
