Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana, announced that the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will soon launch a policy to provide every student with a laptop.

He made this statement at an event in the Volta Region on Saturday, where he said that the laptops will have textbooks and other learning materials installed on them.

He added that the policy will be implemented before 2023 ends.

“We must invest in education if we want to move this country forward and prepare our future nation builders.

“The Education Minister has also assured me that this year, we’ll start replacing textbooks with laptops that have textbooks embedded in Senior High Schools”.

However, this ambitious promise did not sit well with many Ghanaians on social media, who criticized the Vice President for his unrealistic and misplaced priorities.

Many social media users argued that the government should focus on providing basic necessities like proper textbooks and feeding for the students.
