Speakers SIM card cut off despite re registration – MP

The official SIM card of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has been cut off by the telecom companies even though he re-registered it under the name of Parliament of Ghana, according to Sam George, the MP for Ningo-Prampram.

The government had set May 31 as the deadline for SIM registration exercise and over 8 million SIM cards that were not registered were cut off by the telecom companies.

Sam George said that his SIM card was also cut off and he demanded that the National Identification Authority provide him with the Ghana Card so that he can register his SIM card. He also urged the Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful to appear before Parliament on Thursday, June 8, 2023, to answer questions about the exercise.
