A Ghanaian man living in Queens, New York, has reportedly lost his life after being assaulted by his son who is a teenager. The tragic incident happened at their home following a dispute between the two.

A video posted by Oman Channel on YouTube captured the scene of grief and sorrow as members of the Ghanaian community gathered around while the body of the man was taken away by officials of the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

A man who identified himself as the brother of the deceased lamented in Akan: “Noah, is that you? You have been abroad for so long. May you rest in peace… God be with you.” A woman who was also in tears said: “I pray that your spirit will deal with whoever did this to you.”

The incident is said to have taken place on June 12, 2023, in Queens. This comes after another shocking case in Columbus, Ohio, where a Ghanaian man shot his wife and killed himself. The man, named Michael Amoako, allegedly shot his 50-year-old wife after she threatened to leave him and marry her former lover in Ghana. He left behind an audio recording where he expressed his grievances and final wishes to his family. His wife is currently in critical condition after sustaining serious injuries from the shooting.
