A fatal accident claimed the lives of three people who were travelling in a Hyundai Sonata car with registration number GS 7776-19 on Friday, May 19, 2023.
The car plunged into a river near Enyiresi, a town in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, along the Accra to Kumasi highway.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Hyundai Sonata was trying to avoid a collision with a Sprinter bus that overtook another vehicle wrongly. The car then somersaulted and landed in the river, drowning all three occupants.
The National Ambulance Service and Ghana National Fire Service retrieved the bodies from the river.
The victims were reportedly heading to Nkoranza in the Bono East Region to attend a funeral of a relative.
