Treasury bills auction misses target by GH¢550 million

The latest auction of treasury bills on May 15, 2023 raised GH¢2.78 billion for the Government of Ghana, which was less than the GH¢3.33 billion target.

The amount was slightly higher than the previous week’s auction, but still fell short by GH¢550 million. The average interest rates also rose marginally to between 20.43 percent and 27.59 percent.

The Central Bank’s auction results showed that the government got GH¢2.31 billion from the 91-day bill, GH¢355.26 million from the 182-day bill, and GH¢115.60 million from the 364-day bill.

The interest rates for the 91-day bill increased from 20.25 percent to 20.43 percent, for the 182-day bill from 22.82 percent to 22.96 percent, and for the 364-day bill from 27.36 percent to 27.59 percent.
