Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti could leave Camp Nou this summer after a successful loan spell at Serie A side Lecce.
The Catalan club are not planning to keep him for next season and are open to offers from other teams.
However, Diario SPORT reports that Lecce are keen to make his move permanent if they manage to avoid relegation this season.
The Italian club are willing to pay around €4 million for the Frenchman, plus his salary. Umtiti is aware of the interest from other big clubs in Europe, such as AC Milan and AS Roma, but he also appreciates the opportunity that Lecce gave him.
The defender has been one of the standout performers in Serie A this season, helping Lecce’s defence and earning praise from fans and pundits.
But his future at Lecce depends on the club’s survival in the top division. They are currently two points above the drop zone with three games left to play.
They need to win at least one of those games to secure their place in Serie A. Only then, they can think about signing Umtiti on a full-time basis this summer.
