A cow that escaped from a shopping center in Montgomery, Alabama, led police on a wild chase that ended at a church where children were attending Vacation Bible School.
The cow was spotted wandering near Dillards on Tuesday morning and police escorted it to a grassy field next to a fitness center across Berry Hill Road.
However, the cow had other plans and decided to visit the Taylor Road Baptist Church, where it caught the attention of Senior Pastor Daniel Atkins around 10 a.m.
“She was looking at people through the window and scraping the ground with her hoof,” Atkins told WSFA-TV. “We thought she might break through the glass.”
Atkins went outside and saw the cow being pursued by two police officers and an animal control officer.
He said there were about 200 kids inside the church at the time for Vacation Bible School.
“The kids were watching from the second floor windows,” Atkins said.
A cowboy from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Agriculture and Rural Crime Unit arrived on the scene and managed to rope the cow.
“It was an unexpected excitement for today,”
