A plane carrying a Brazilian music band had to make a sudden landing after the door flew open in the middle of the flight, shocking the passengers inside. A video of the terrifying incident has gone viral on Twitter with over 100,000 views.
The incident happened last week, when the plane was flying from Sao Luis to Salvador city, where the band of Tierry, a popular singer-songwriter in Brazil, had a concert with thousands of fans. Tierry was not on the plane, as he had taken another flight earlier.
The door came loose and opened wide while the plane was still in the air, exposing the cabin to the outside. The video shows Tierry’s band members sitting calmly near the open door, as if they were reenacting a scene from the 2000 movie “Almost Famous”.
The pilot decided to turn back and land at Hugo da Cunha Machado airport in Sao Luis, where medical staff checked on the passengers. Fortunately, no one was hurt by the unexpected exposure to high altitude.
The band went back to their hotel, probably glad that they did not become another tragic case of musicians dying in plane crashes.
The cause of the door malfunction is still under investigation.
