WhatsApp users can now enjoy more privacy and control over their calls with a new feature that lets them mute calls from strangers.
The chat app, which has more than 2.40 billion users worldwide, decided to launch this feature after receiving many complaints about spam calls from its customers.
The new feature was announced by Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday, along with a new privacy checkup option. He stressed that WhatsApp values the privacy and control of its users.
The feature works by automatically muting incoming calls from contacts that are not saved in the user’s phone.
However, the user can still see the notifications and call logs from these unknown numbers in the app, and check them later if they want to, in case they are from someone they know but haven’t added to their contacts.
To turn on this feature, users can go to Settings > Privacy > Calls and select the “Silence unknown caller” option.
