Windows Autopatch introduces new features and controls in May 2023 preview In a new blog post, Microsoft announced the latest public preview of Windows Autopatch, its service that automatically updates Windows devices.

The May 2023 preview is the most significant one since the launch of Autopatch in April 2022, according to Lior Bela , CPA, Windows Autopatch and Microsoft Intune.

The blog post highlights the new features and improvements that are available in the preview, which are based on the feedback from Autopatch customers and potential customers. The new features and improvements include:

  • More flexibility and customization for deploying feature updates. IT admins and system admins can now choose which Autopatch groups (called “Deployment rings”) will receive certain updates, and how to roll out updates gradually to different groups.
  • Better alerts and notifications for policy issues. Autopatch will now notify admins when it detects policies that are missing or changed in the Tenant Management section, and provide guidance on how to fix them.
  • Enhanced reporting for both feature updates and quality updates. Autopatch will now provide more details and insights on the status and progress of updates, as well as the impact and benefits of updating.
